Top DevOps Events: What and When are They?

DevOps events are a great place to network and keep up with the industry. With that in mind, let's take a look at 10 top DevOps events.

Once upon a time, what we today would refer to as DevOps events were small-scale gatherings. And you’d be hard-pressed to find more than a relative handful of scrappy software developers and mobile app professionals at them. Fast forward to today, when apps have become central to our lives, and mobile app testing events have grown to become massive, multi-day conferences.

Whether you punch your ticket to a conference across the globe or prefer to stick to regional gatherings, attending DevOps events is a great way to network and collaborate with other developers. And as an added bonus, you can expect to get a glimpse of the latest tools and tech coming down the pipeline.

With that in mind—and in no specific order—here are ten DevOps and mobile app testing events that you might want to mark on your calendar. You might even bump into the Sofy team at them!

DevOpsdays Austin

DevOpsdays is a global conference series that covers topics like IT infrastructure, software development, and app testing. A grass-roots series, DevOpsdays relies on local volunteers to run each event, most of which feature self-organized breakout sessions between attendees as well as curated talks.

This year, DevOpsdays Austin is taking place on May 4th and 5th at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center, located on the University of Texas campus. The theme for this year’s event is “Change is in our bones!”. As you can probably gather from such a focus, discussions and breakouts will center around the wide range of deliberate and unexpected changes that have shaped the DevOps space over the last few years.

TestBash UK 2023

The Ministry of Testing is known for putting together highly engaging events that leave attendees eager to learn more, and for 2023, the Ministry has scheduled its annual TestBash UK event for September 20th and 21st.

A two-day, in-person software-testing conference, TestBash UK will take place in Liverpool. As always, it is set to be loaded with all of the following and then some:

  • Talks
  • Workshops
  • Activities
  • Challenges
  • Games

The event may still be several months out, but tickets are already on sale, so you can lock in your spot and book your flight to this high-profile DevOps event today.

Agile + DevOps East Conference

Not everyone wants (or can) to fly across the pond to attend mobile app testing events, but the good news is that you don’t have to. If you want to support your local software developer scene, consider checking out an event like the Agile + DevOps East Conference.

Hosted by Techwell, the East Conference is a regional event that will take place in Orlando, FL, from November 5th-10th, 2023. Speakers will cover a broad range of topics, including continuous integration, digital transformation, and scaling agile and DevOps capabilities. Between sessions, attendees can meet with vendors and learn more about innovative new DevOps technologies.

DevTernity

For those interested in attending a bold, in-your-face conference unlike any other, DevTernity needs to be on your radar. Scheduled for December  7th and 8th, 2023, DevTernity is a totally-online experience in which organizers promise a no-nonsense conference that focuses on coding, leadership, architecture, and engineering and testing best practices.

The lineup of speakers includes some of the most prominent names in DevOps and mobile app testing. A few headliners include figures such as:

  • Anna Boyko, staff engineer at Coinbase
  • John Romero, co-founder of id Software
  • Scott Hanselman, principal architect at Microsoft
  • Dave Farley, author of Modern Software Engineering and Continuous Delivery

As the event draws near, DevTernity will announce the rest of its speakers and release a detailed schedule you can use to ensure you don’t miss a single presentation.

Spinnaker Summit

Scheduled for May 8th and 9th, 2023, and slated to take place in Vancouver, Canada, the Spinnaker Summit features keynote speakers, happy hours, and hands-on workshops, among many other opportunities. It is one of the most popular DevOps events in North America and is geared towards operators, architects, and developers.

Spinnaker Summit 2023 will be the event’s 7th iteration, and it will run in conjunction with cdCon + GitOpsCon.

Global Azure 2023

Much like DevOpsdays, Global Azure is a series of locally-managed events and conferences. However, Global Azure differs in that all of the events are hosted simultaneously between May 11th and 13th, spanning six continents and featuring over 500 speakers. As an attendee, you will have access to over 600 sessions, all of which are broadcast online.

Although Global Azure is a Microsoft Azure-centric event, speakers will touch on various topics, including DevOps, architecture, and testing, and with so many speakers and sessions available, Global Azure truly offers something for everyone.

QCon

For its 2023 outing, QCon is heading to New York City. Between June 13th and 15th, hundreds of industry professionals will descend upon New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge.

Some of the most notable tracks to be covered at QCon 2023 are as follows:

  • Architectures You’ve Always Wondered About
  • ML in Practice
  • Staff + Engineering: New Skills, New Challenges
  • Next in Cloud Native Development

The DevOps Conference — Stockholm

The DevOps Conference — Stockholm is a one-day event scheduled for October 23, 2023. In addition to keynote speakers, the event will feature fireside chats and open discussions. The conference also features workshops and hosts dozens of vendors and showcasing some cutting-edge technologies.

Uniting developers, programmers, designers, managers, executives, and stakeholders, the Stockholm iteration of the DevOps Conference is actually only half of the much-anticipated event. The other half of the event will take place two days later in Copenhagen.

The National DevOps Conference

The National DevOps Conference 2023 will take place in Central London on June 20th and 21st, 2023. This two-day event will feature roundtable discussions, presentations, and exhibits, and visionary business leaders will moderate the entire conference.

In terms of mobile app testing events, few will compare to the National DevOps Conference 2023. Discussions will center around low-code app development, AIOps, DevSecOps, and other developments that are reshaping the DevOps space. Whereas Day One of the event will cater to C-suite executives, directors, and department heads, Day Two is all about developers. That said, attending both days is a great idea regardless of whether you manage your own development department or are an up-and-coming coder.

Infoshare Conference

The 2023 Infoshare Conference is the largest startup and tech event in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Each year, investors, developers, marketers, and business leaders gather together to share ideas, inspire one another, and learn from one another. During the event, organizers will also announce the winner of the 2023 startup contest.

This year, the Infoshare Conference will occur May 24th and 25th in Gdańsk, Poland. And since this is a hybrid conference, you can attend either in person or via streaming online.

Get out there!

With so many exciting mobile app testing events scheduled this year, it can be tough to choose which ones to attend. Fortunately, you can ‘attend’ many events virtually, meaning you can pack more conferences, chats, and presentations into your 2023 schedule. If you’ve got your eye on a particular event, this is certainly an option worth looking into.

That said, there is nothing like attending a DevOps event in person. Participating in live events gives you the opportunity to connect with vendors, experience hands-on workshops, learn from industry experts, and share ideas with other passionate developers. And if you happen to spot the Sofy team, be sure to drop by and say hello!
